Indian Hills High School AP Courses

Indian Hills High School offers 27 Advanced Placement (AP) courses. These are challenging courses and gives students a chance to take college-level courses. Through taking AP exams at the end of the course, students can earn college credit and placement. AP courses are weighted an additional 0.03 per semester and increase a student's weighted GPA.

It is important to check the prerequisites of each AP course and the grades which the class is offered. Note that there is only one AP course available in 9th grade: Computer Science Principles, which is not designated as an AP course, but students are prepared to sit for the AP exam at the end of the course.

Based on the student's effort, ability, and achievement during the school year, students can obtain a waiver to register for a non-recommended course with teacher approval. Parents are advised to contact the student's counselor. Let us help you plan out which AP courses to take and when.

Indian Hills High School CCP Courses

Indian Hills High School offers College Credit Plus (CCP) courses, Ohio's dual enrollment program that allows students to earn both college and high school credit at Ohio colleges and universities. CCP courses are offered at little to no cost to students, covering tuition and books. Students can only take a maximum of 30-credits per year. One semester of CCP courses that are equal to a full-year AP course are weighted an additional 0.06.

CCP Courses offered at Indian Hills High School include:
  • CCP English Composition
  • CCP American Literature
  • CCP Strategic Entrepreneurship
  • CCP Introduction to Engineering Design
  • CCP Intro to Music
All other classes are offered at partner universities and colleges.

Why would a student take a CCP course vs a AP course?
CCP courses are offered in the summer and cover areas not offered at Indian Hills High School. If you plan on attending a public Ohio college or university, you can meet requirements and save time and money by skipping intro-level courses. Private or out-of-state public colleges will decide independently whether to accept these credits as transfer credits. These are semester-long courses. You are able to earn credit at an accelerated pace and freeing up valuable space in your busy schedule for other courses.

You must notify your school counselor if you plan to participate in CCP. We can help you decide if CCP is the right path for you.
